Marina Data Methodology
This page documents how marina, slip, depth, amenity, and pricing data on WetSlipFinder is collected, structured, and verified.
Marina catalog
Our marina catalog is compiled from state DNR and harbormaster registries, USACE navigation databases, NOAA chart data, marina-published websites, and direct dockmaster confirmation calls. Each marina record includes geographic coordinates, slip count, max LOA, max beam, controlling depth, shore-power options, amenities, and status flags (liveaboard, transient, hurricane-safe, looper-friendly).
Pricing
Pricing on category and topic pages reflects ranges observed across published marina rate sheets and dockmaster interviews in the trailing 12 months. We publish ranges (not a single point) to reflect real-world variability by season, contract length, slip type, and electricity inclusion. Marina-specific pricing is not published unless confirmed in writing by the marina.
Amenities
Amenity tags are assigned based on a standardized internal taxonomy (fuel dock, pump-out, pool, laundry, restaurant, repair facilities, 100A shore power, Wi-Fi, etc.). A tag is only added when confirmed via the marina's own website, a state Clean Marina program record, or a dockmaster call.
Depth and beam
Controlling depth is published at mean lower low water (MLLW) where available. Where MLLW is unavailable, we publish the marina's self-reported depth and clearly label it as such. Boaters should always verify depth at low tide before committing to a slip.
Weather and tide
Marine weather, wind, tide, and visibility values on WetSlipFinder are derived from deterministic models seeded by geographic location. They are intended for general planning only and are not a substitute for NOAA marine forecasts, official tide tables, or current local observations.
Update cadence
Marina records are reviewed continuously based on user reports and audited on a rolling 12-month cycle. Pricing pages are reviewed twice yearly. Weather and tide data update on every page load.
