Answer
What is shore power?
Shore power is the AC electricity supplied at a marina slip pedestal. Pedestals come in 30A/125V, 50A/125-250V, and 100A/250V configurations.
Common configurations
30A is standard on boats under 30 ft. 50A is standard for cruisers 35–60 ft with air conditioning. 100A is for yachts with multiple AC units and full galley loads.
Adapters
Smart power adapters reverse polarity protection, manage load between dual 50A inputs, and bridge between 30A and 50A pedestals.
Metering
Most marinas meter electric separately at $0.18–$0.35/kWh. Inland lakes sometimes include power in the slip rent.
